“Cannot delete: Rates are associated with this job/activity step” error message when working with Employee Productivity Rates.

Solution

This message is displayed when attempting to delete a job/activity step after you have already entered Productivity Rate and effective date.  To fix this:

1. Click the  ‘Set’ button for the Productivity rate (Employee Setup | Job/Activity Step Productivity tab) and delete those rates and the date.
2. You should now be able to delete the job step.

If you’ve already built payroll using this job step, you will not be able to delete it. Enter a close date on the Step and then create a new step.
