“This activity number has been used in the past for a different job in this branch” error message

While in Client Payroll Manager, you receive the following error:

“This activity number has been used in the past for a different job in this branch.  Activity numbers cannot be reused within a branch, because doing so would make payroll history reports misleading.  Please choose a new activity number.”

Solution

Even though a job has been closed, the history remains.  Choose a new number.
