Vertex Attends MOHR Legislative September Conference 2025

On September 4th and 5th, Vertex Systems had the privilege of attending the Minnesota Organization for Habilitation and Rehabilitation (MOHR) Legislative Conference in Alexandria, MN. This important annual gathering brought together IDD leaders and providers from across the state to discuss legislative updates, new trends, and the challenges impacting disability service organizations in Minnesota.

Why We Attend the MOHR Conferences

The conference served as a critical forum to learn about federal legislative updates, DEED initiatives, employment law changes for 2026, and other state and federal trends impacting disability services. For Vertex, it was a valuable opportunity to hear directly from thought leaders and advocates, while also connecting with our Minnesota-based clients and partners.

Key Learnings from MOHR

Several important themes stood out during the sessions:

  • Legislative Advocacy: We gained new insights into how MOHR works with lawmakers locally and nationally to shape meaningful policy change.

  • GAC Brainstorming: The Government Affairs Committee identified key areas of focus that highlight ongoing challenges IDD businesses in Minnesota face.

  • Policy and Employment Law Updates: Staying informed about evolving state and federal regulations ensures our solutions continue to help providers remain compliant and efficient.

Featured Speakers

The conference featured impactful speakers who shed light on both challenges and opportunities ahead:

  • Tammi Reuter (MRCI): Shared best practices on turning advocacy into action when working with legislators.

  • Meghan Hanson: Provided updates from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) initiatives.

  • David Dively: Delivered a comprehensive overview of state and federal trends affecting disability services.

Connecting with Vertex Customers

One of the highlights of the event was catching up with many of our valued clients, including Functional Industries, West Central Industries (WCI), Ability Building Community (ABC), Lake County DAC, and Cedar Valley Services. These conversations reinforced the importance of our partnerships and gave us a clearer view of the challenges providers are facing in 2025 and beyond.

MOHR 2025 Conference Highlights

Beyond the sessions and networking, the MOHR conference also created space for recognition and community building. The MOHR Legacy Leader Award celebrated outstanding leadership in the field, while attendees enjoyed cocktail hours offsite to unwind and connect. Vertex also hosted a fun Angel’s Envy giveaway at our booth, which drew great participation.
