The 2026 MOHR Spring Training Conference brought together providers, advocates, and leaders from across the IDD community, and Vertex Systems was proud to be part of it. Held under the theme Together We Learn, Lead, and Thrive: Empowering Every Voice, this year’s event was a meaningful reminder of why connection and collaboration sit at the heart of everything this community does.

Minnesota is one of our premiere states, and MOHR represents the providers doing critical work every day for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout the region. Attending gave us the opportunity to learn alongside our clients, connect with new prospects, and share the new solutions we’ve been building to better support IDD agencies at every level.

Why We Attended the MOHR Spring Training Conference

MOHR serves as a leading voice for disability service providers in Minnesota, supporting organizations that help individuals with IDD live, work, and thrive in their communities. Their annual Spring Training Conference is one of the most important gatherings in the state for learning, advocacy, and peer connection.

For Vertex, this conference is a natural fit. We are committed to the IDD agencies and providers who depend on accurate billing, strong documentation, and compliant operations to deliver the care their clients deserve. Showing up at MOHR means showing up for the community we serve.

Key Learnings from the 2026 MOHR Spring Training Conference

Several important topics shaped the conversation at this year’s event:

  • New Employment Strategies for Individuals with Higher Support Needs: The field continues to evolve in how it approaches employment for individuals who require more intensive support. Providers are seeking creative, person-centered approaches that open real opportunities while maintaining compliance.
  • Principles of Therapeutic Intervention: Proactive and Reactive Strategies: Sessions focused on building stronger frameworks for intervention, with an emphasis on proactive planning that reduces the need for reactive responses and supports better outcomes for the individuals being served.
  • Trends in 245D Licensing Visits: Before, During, and After: 245D compliance remains a significant focus for Minnesota providers. This session addressed how agencies can better prepare for licensing visits, what surveyors are prioritizing, and how to follow through effectively after a visit is complete.

Featured Keynote: Gaelynn Lea

One of the highlights of the conference was the keynote address from Gaelynn Lea, a disabled violinist, songwriter, and Broadway composer whose work sits at the intersection of classical music and disability culture. Her session, titled Empowering Every Voice, was a powerful reminder of what becomes possible when we create space for every individual to be heard and valued. Gaelynn’s commitment to fostering a vibrant, inclusive culture through music resonated deeply with the spirit of this conference and with the work IDD providers do every day.

Connecting at the Vertex Booth

We loved connecting with attendees at our booth throughout the conference. We even brought Plinko, which was a hit and gave us a fun way to spark conversations with both familiar faces and new ones. These interactions are always one of our favorite parts of any conference. Hearing directly from providers about what they’re navigating, what’s working, and where they need more support helps us keep building tools that meet real needs.

Moving Forward with MOHR

The MOHR Spring Training Conference continues to be one of the most valuable events we attend each year. We came away energized by the conversations, inspired by the keynote, and more committed than ever to serving the Minnesota IDD community with solutions that make a real difference.
